Dear Mr Childers:
The Board addressed the routing of the south coastal trail at our December 12th meeting. We were unanimous in our vote and there was no opposition from the audience.
Therefore, be it resolved:
Rabbit Creek Community Council supports the South Extension of the Coastal Trail along the Modified Orange Route, and encourages its expeditious construction.
The Council further notes that the pending re-design and upgrade of the New Seward Highway along Potter Marsh in the next few years will allow opportunities to design buffers between the trail and New Seward Highway along Potter Marsh. The current proposed trail location is currently 35 feet from the paved lanes; a better buffer from the highway is desirable for reasons of safety, noise, air quality and trail maintenance. This design modification should wait until the Highway re-design.
Sincerely,
Dianne Holmes, Chair
