ANCHORAGE'S MOST WIDELY-READ WEEKLY NEWSPAPER

Vol. 12, Ed. 31 July 31 - August 6, 2003

BEST MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAIL  Cyclists put Power Line Pass, The Tony Knowles Coastal Trail and Resurrection Pass Trail on the top of the list. Last year, the Coastal Trail won outright and we berated our voters for not understanding what really qualifies as a mountain bike trail. We also called the people who voted for the Coastal Trail a bunch of wussies, but we've agreed not to do that this year. By the way, Resurrection Pass is a perennial favorite of the editors of Outside Magazine. On their web site, Outside Online, they call it "A true wilderness ride, roadless and woolly." We're not sure what makes a mountain bike ride woolly, but we sure hope it doesn't gum up our chain.

STAFF PICK - We head to the trails of Eklutna when we want a bit of fresh air. Yeah, we know they're pretty easy. But not as easy as the paved Coastal Trail.
